Rell & Quise’s Bhocolate Bhip Bookies

Introduction
Me and my cousin Marquise we both have a love for the best treat to ever grace the earth, chocolate chip cookies. Honestly, neither one of us knows how to cook at all, but we decided to give it a go, and try our best to make the treat. Usually, we would go to a bakery, or some type of store that has really good cookies, like Insomnia Cookies, or our moms’ would just help us make the. However, this time- they were no help at all.

                                                                      Research
When me and my cousin looked up the chemistry of science, we found many very interesting things. We found out that the heat doesn’t just make the cookies rise. We found out that the baking soda, or baking powder used (whichever you decided to use) in the recipe helps the cookie rise, and also the water that was in the cookie turns into vapor and helps the cookie rise once it reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit, the heat gives it color, and the taste. Two chemical reactions are responsible for the color of the cookie, and the taste. Those are the Malliard Reaction (taste), and the Caramelization reaction (color).
                                                                       Experiment
For our experiment, we decided to test if the cooking time of the cookie, will affect the taste of the cookie. First off, we had to go to our local Fresh Grocer and gather all the ingredients. Once we got back to the kitchen, it went down.

  1. Get 1 cup of white sugar
  2. Get 1 cup of Brown sugar
  3. Add 2 large Eggs
  4. 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  5. 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  6. 2 teaspoons of hot water
  7. 1/2 teaspoon of salt (iodized gives the cookie the best flavor possible)
  8. 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  9. 2 cups of chocolate chips
To cook the cookies, you have to preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the oven has heated, leave the cookies in the oven for about 10 minutes.
                                                                           Results
As mentioned before, we were testing to see if the cooking time would affect the taste, and it definitely did. The first cookie, we left it in the oven for about 5-6 minutes, and the cookie didn’t really rise that much, and the chocolate chips didn’t even sink into the cookie. The cookie wasn’t even edible, and the cookie was basically still raw. The second cookie however,  we left it in the oven for the whole 10 minutes, and it was so good. I think it was good because we made it, and didn’t have anybody else make it. We had some milk to go with the cookie, and boy was it good. The second cookie was the absolute best. Now for the final cookie, we put the cookie in the oven for just a little bit over the 10 minutes, we had it in the oven for about 15 minutes, and as we expected it was a little on the dark side. The cookie was so hard, it felt like a rock found on the side of the road. The cookie wasn’t even edible, we didn’t even try to eat it because we didn’t want to damage our teeth.
