SaRin's Delicious Ice Cream Bread

For my experiment I made ice cream bread. I chose to make ice cream bread because it is delicious and because some people didn't know what ice cream bread was. I also wanted to make something different then what other people were making.

The science of ice cream bread
Before you start drooling all over your clothes, you have to learn about ice cream bread first. Ice cream is a sweetened frozen desert. Bread is a staple food made of dough. I am experimenting the different amounts of flour. Flour contains glucose and starch. Glucose is a type of sugar and starch is a lot of glucose combined together. In the procedure of making bread the starch is broken down back into glucose which allows the bread to rise. Glucose is a protein and when water is added to the glucose it creates a bond to hold the dough together.

Experiment and Results
The independent variable in my experiment was the amount of flour. All ingredients, amounts, and temperatures were kept constant.

Recipe and Instructions
To make ice cream bread you will need:

  • A oven 
  • Ice cream 
  • self-rising flour
  • some kind of non stick stray
  • A bowl and a mixing tool 
  • DO NOT MIX WITH HANDS
  • A pan to make bread in 

You should have already let the ice cream defrost a little bit.

  1. First thing first go wash your hands and then set your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Get a bowl or something to mix your dough in.
  3. Scoop 2 cups of ice cream and 1 1/2 cups of self rising flour and put it in your bowl.
  4. Mix it all together. If you think your finish mixing, the ice cream and flour should be evenly distributed.
  5. When you finish stray your pan with olive oil or cooking stray.
  6. Pour your dough into the pan. Then put it in the oven.
  7. You should leave your ice cream bread in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
Trial one-1 1/2 cups 
This was delicious ice cream bread. It was nicely soft and had a perfect brown color at the top. It smelled the same as regular Oreo ice cream and it taste Oreo bread.

Trial two-2 cups
This trial was soft but had a lighter color than trial one. It was a very light brown color, with extra space in the corners of the pan. The bread taste a little dry and it smelled like more Oreos was added to the dough.

Trial three-2 1/2 cups
This trial was horrible. It wasn't cooked all the way and was too dry. I guess there was to much flour added to the dough.                

To summarize, the amount of flour plays a very important role in the process of making ice cream bread. In the first trial, I put the right amount of flour in the dough and was better than the other trials. In the second trial, I put a little bit more flour then I did in the first one and it was just slightly dry. In the third trial, I put way too much flour and it was nasty. It tasted like dry up dough. And when I look in the middle of the ice cream bread i notice that it was not cooked all the way.
